vixen's thoughts on a

 journal...

A journal can be a notebook, a specially bound book, a computer file, or an online service.  It's a place where the submissive can release and record every component and/or feeling in her D/s relationship.  A submissives journal should be her "safe place" where she can speak vanilla and not worry of a punishment for the words she has written.  In most cases, the journal is read by the Dominant so he can have a better understanding of the submissive.  This also allows a deeper level of communication between the Dominant and the submissive.  This allows the Dominant to make better decisions which are tailored to the current mindset and level of His submissive.  By recording her thoughts, the submissive can look back and see how much her relationship, attitude, personality and outlook has progressed over time.  Whether or not a journal is read by the Dominant is up to the participants in the relationship.  Though many Dominants will ask it if He feels the submissive is having difficulties.  For many submissives, their journal can serve as a lifeline in a difficult situation, releasing their thoughts and trusting it as a safe place for the submissive can be a great relief or release.  Many find the best way to write a journal is to just let the hand write and all the words flow on to the paper.  It takes practice to just let the thoughts pour out without hesitation, but once a submissive is able to do so, she can reveal some pretty shocking things to herself she never knew were even inside of her.  In the whole, a journal can be such an advantage and comfort that it's worth the time to do, even if just for yourself.
