Gorean (Gor) Online Chat Rooms

Online-Gor is a fantasy place created in mimic of the 27 books written by John Norman over the course of three decades.  It is an alternate reality, a place existing on a planet revolving around our sun within Earth's orbit, but with an opposite turn.  The books were a venture into human sexuality; so Gorean realms are considered adult chat rooms. Gor has its own traditions, customs, and mannerisms.  What some from Earth call TPE D/s (Domination/submission to a level of Total Power Exchange, i.e. Master/slave) is commonplace on Gor.

If you are unfamiliar with either Gor or with Dominance and submission (D/s), I suggest you read further on these topics before visiting a Gorean (Gor) Chat room.  This archive strives to be a fine reference to Gorean culture, and covers a basic description of BDSM, but primarily chooses to refer one to outside sources for non-Gorean details.

When we see the name of one who enters the city (the chat room), we assume they have chosen their role in Gorean space.  In most online environments, if your name bears a capital letter you will be treated as a Master/Mistress while if your name begins with a lower case letter you will be treated as a Gorean slave.  The most common term for Gorean slave is kajira (female slave) or kajirus (male slave).  Slaves arrive on Gor without a kolar, but may in time beg the kolar and protection of a particular Master/Mistress or of an establishment such as {SV}, the Sanctuary Vidrew, the Home Stone associated with this site.  Or there are some places that will immediately claim an unowned slave that enters their realm, these are called "Forced Collar Zones" so only enter those if your wish is to be owned there and you are prepared for that potential eventuality.

In formal situations, a slave is customarily instructed to use third person when referring to themselves such as "a kajira", "this one", "this girl", "a girl", or their slave name. In the books, this was only done when the girl was humbling herself with a plea or the Master wished her humbled as punishment.

All of us have heard talk that a kajira is just a slave and is valueless. However many find two fault with this belief.  Many consider online interactions to be nothing more than fantasy roles, but you are still talking with a real person behind the keys.  There's even some of us who live this lifestyle here at home too, a condition which makes us take things far more seriously than a mere game.  Learn how to control effectively without it becoming abusive!  Secondly, if a slave is to serve well he/she must have confidence in their abilities; so make a slave feel comfortable, up to a point *wink*.  A worthless slave could never truly please you while a slave with dignity, courage, and eloquence who gleefully obeys you and follows your commands in a pleasing way becomes a treasured possession.

A kajira should always strive to perfection, but may be proud of mere excellence; anything less than an attempt to such standards will be frowned upon and found unpleasing. If something a slave does is described as "adequate" he/she will likely be chastised and will serve better next time. Even an "adequate" slave has some value, but who wants a simply "adequate" slave? Realize this as an alternative if you are tempted to tell a slave he/she is without any value.

These examples are given only to make your first few visits go more smoothly. Gorean culture is based on Honor ~ a far-from-simple principle and the Gorean cultures are rich enough to be studied at great length, adding more customs over the months as you learn. If you choose to visit Gor online please treat all with respect and enjoy your visit. Respect and Honor go hand-in-hand. A slave shows respect by obeying and serving in a pleasing manner; a free-person shows respect through fairness and by respecting the property (including kajirae) and ways of others whom you meet.
