Religion, the Bible and the Dominant submissive (D/s) Lifestyle
While I'm not a very religious person, I do have My own religious beliefs, and for what it is worth, yes, I do believe in God. As a Dominant, I learned long ago that yes, even I have a Master and regardless of what He is called, God, Buddha, Allah, The Holy One, or whatever, each of us has our own beliefs and is subject to those teachings. While not trying to teach religion in any form, allow Me to share a few thoughts that I've come across, quoted from the Bible. I welcome input from others, sharing other passages that they feel are appropriate for this page. In reading these comments, I ask that you consider, if you truly have a Dominant, wouldn't for the purposes of this text, he be the same as a husband? Again these thoughts are here only to provoke some thought, or perhaps a bit of insight into this lifestyle that we hold so dear. The quotations that follow are in no significant order. CJ
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones. Proverbs 12:4 KJV
Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord Proverbs 19:14 NKJV
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and no evil al the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' shps; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meant to her household, and a portin to her maidens. she considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vieyard. she firdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceived that her merchandis is good: her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yes, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. she is not afraid of the sonf for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. she maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth amongh the elders of the land. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:10-31 KJV
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 KJV
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Ephesians 5:22-24, 33b KJV
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without th word be wond by the conversation fo the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of waering of gold, or of puttin gon of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that whish is not corruptbile, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of god, adorned themselves, being in subjectin unto their own husbands: Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. 1 Peter 3:1-6 KJV
