The Power within Journaling
Journaling is a powerful tool that many dominants require of their submissive. On one level it enforces control but can also provide additional benefits for the submissive. Journaling can be used to enhance personal well-being, growth, and to look at life differently. Requiring a submissive to journal should include minimal limitations other than perhaps the required number of journal entries for any given period of time.
Journaling is an excellent training method.
It requires a certain amount of focus and insight that reduces the
submissive mind of clutter, purposely revealing their patterns of
thought. An untrained mind tends to wander without purpose or
direction. At any given moment, a submissive can have a whole
host of thoughts and internal dialogues going on. These
haphazard non-directed thoughts tend to manifest into worry or
anger, which leads to stress. Unmanaged stress often morphs
into depression and or illness. Enforcing a submissive to
address their thoughts, acknowledge their inner voice provides the
impetus to clearly express their feelings, motivations, and desires.
The benefit to the dominant if the ability to gain the insight
needed to effectively deal with them. What many people fail to
realize, is that even seemingly random or innocent thoughts, produce
potent energy. This energy seeks an outlet to express itself;
what we think and believe always manifests with amazing accuracy.
Important to the process is quantifying the ratio of positive to
not-so-positive thoughts expressed in the journal. Expressions
of worry, anger, or other un-healthy feelings can be understood and
re-directed before they become problematic.
Journaling must be approached with a commitment to being candid. Through this opening, we begin to peel away the layers of the mind. Writing is also an excellent way of learning a more positive way of thinking. A journal can have similar effects to meditation, in that it requires the submissive to bring their full attention and awareness in to the present.
Many of us find ourselves stuck in routines where our lives become lost in the humdrum of the daily grind. When we run on auto-pilot too long, we become desensitized to the joys of living within a power exchange relationship. One key to staying motivated is being able to see progress. Journals can provide much needed information for those of us working towards specific goals. When seemingly stuck, it is easy to page back through the journal and see, in writing, our progress. This often provides the motivation necessary to continue on our path. We can see that life is always a succession of peaks and valleys, and neither is a permanent situation.
