Gor - Is it worth it?

Taking time out

From time to time, there is someone that says "that’s it! I’ve had it I’m leaving!".

The lies, the cheats, the pretenders, the predators, and etc… etc…

Let’s face it… after awhile we all get fed up and disgusted.

Disappointments, set backs and deceptions seem to multiply and grow out of proportion. We become disillusioned and bitter.

However let’s not forget… this is not pertinent to only online… these things surround us also offline.

From time to time you need to take a step back and retreat to have a change of scenery, a vacation, a break… from everything you do.

The more you invest of yourself, your time and energy, the more it becomes necessary for some time away. If you do not do so, you will burn out. And this is just as valid for this online community as it is in your job or everyday life.

A lot of us, spend time online to learn or to impart knowledge, worthwhile to be sure. But learning becomes an obligation and teaching becomes a chore, when that’s all you do day in and day out.

When things get overwhelming online, why use the same principle… step out… take a couple of days, weeks… instead of logging on… read a book (a non Norman one J ), rearrange your furniture, write, watch a movie (during the time you usually log on) or a sports game. If you are married/FC’ed or have kids, take a night out to have a family or couples dinner.

When you do come online, instead of searching for that Gorean topic to talk about, why not simply tell of your day? Went shopping, work, not work etc…. etc… I know some channels frown upon this, but all of us have those people to whom we chat in private with. It does not have to be a *Gorean Gorean* subject all the time.

If you are Gorean, then everything you do in your daily life is a topic of Gorean interest.

This is a community, we should be able to touch upon all facets of our lives freely. We are not only here to learn of things Gorean, but also to learn of each other.

It’s to me a sad state of affairs, that people feel that they should not become too personal in channels because it’s not *Gorean*. It’s a added amount of stress to constantly be searching for something *Gorean* to say, as if the rest of our lives did not matter and bore no weight in the balance of things.

If you follow the Gorean philosophy then it permeates your every action and word, then everything you do is affected by your outlook, how you handled a situation at work, how you behaved at dinner last night.. are all things that proclaim your views… for it is with your knowledge and beliefs that you function in every day life… so those are important to share also.

Well just some things to think about for this month

Well wishes everyone

Rakella.
