Asj "Lobby" Chat Room Rules and Protocols
The rules and protocols used in the Asj Lobby Chat Room are fairly simple to understand and follow. Essentially all are expected to adhere to these rules and guidelines. Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in suspension of chat privileges on the Asj website, regardless of membership status, or Lifestyle Role.
Generally the concept of mutual respect and courtesy should apply at all times. A room Monitor or Administrator will have the ultimate, undisputed authority to remove someone, or ban someone from the chat room(s) on the Asj website.
This is a Dominant submissive lifestyle website. As such, it is anticipated that most, if not all of the visitors to the Asj web site chat rooms will be familiar with the basics of the D/s Lifestyle.
There are rules and protocols The rules are expected to be adhered to by all using this site. The protocols are considered more etiquette and what is expected, not formally required. These rules and protocols may be expanded, updated or clarified from time to time. The Asj community reserves the right to ban or restrict anyone from using this site, for any reason at their sole discretion.
Chat Room Rules
1. Permission to enter the "lobby" is not required, nor will it be denied to any member entering the site (unless restricted or banned for previous chat room or site abuse).
2. No flooding, this includes scrolling. (Explanation: Flooding (posting a message many times), scrolling (posting many times but with one or few characters per message), and messages with too many characters slow down the chat rooms for everybody. Because of this, a violation of these rules will result in the offender being kicked from the chat rooms. Typing in all or excessive CAPS is annoying. It doesn't necessarily slow down the chat rooms, but it does clutter the chat windows. A warning will usually be issued to offenders of this rule.)
3. User Screen names are not restricted as to what names or styles may be used, however screen names considered vulgar or offensive will not be permitted for use on the Asj Web site or online Communities. The Asj management reserves the right to decide the appropriateness of any such name and without notice may restrict the use of any name deemed by them as inappropriate. Additionally, screen names beginning with the letters 'CJ' or 'ASJ' or collar tags of CJ, Asj, or SV are reserved for CJ and the Asj Staff/site.
4. Open Cybersex or Scening is prohibited in the "Lobby". While some may enjoy or engage in this type of activity, it may be considered offensive or rude to others. This type of chat should be taken to a private room, or the Dark Pleasures chat room.
5. Eighteen years of age (or as required by local laws, ordinances or regulations) is the minimum age for participation or use of this chat room facility. Users of this chat room should also consider their local environment to ensure younger children are not 'looking over their shoulder' to observe or participate in this chat room. It is normal and expected that mature, adult conversations and topics (including but not limited to BDSM, the D/s Lifestyle, Human Sexuality and physical, emotional and psychological relationships) will frequently occur in the Asj chat rooms. If this type of content offends you, do not participate in this chat facility.
6. Discussions which may be construed as endorsing or supporting Domestic Violence, Physical abuse, pedophilia, bestiality, illegal, or non-conscensual activities are not permitted.
7. Private Message (PM)
capability does exist in the chat rooms, however, it is
inappropriate for anyone regardless of role to PM another
without first establishing permission from the intended
recipient in the open chat room.
11. Don't be impatient for responses.
If a user is slow to respond to you during a conversation,
be patient and wait. Keep in mind this is a person and may have
engagements other than the computer.
Chat Room Protocols
1. Generally, the first letter of the "screen name" will be used to identify the role of the user. A username with the first letter in Upper Case will generally be considered to be a Dominant. A screen name with the first letter in Lower Case will generally be considered to be submissive or slave. This screen name designation, while not always 100% followed will greatly help to establish a quick determination of the individuals role within this community. Members although not required are encouraged to follow this guideline.
2. When entering the chat room, it is considered common sense to pause briefly prior to saying anything to determine what activities or discussions, if any are currently on going in the chat room. Once this is done it is considered 'polite' to greet the others in the chat room or to announce your arrival. Entering without saying anything for an extended period is considered inappropriate lurking and and is considered by most to be rude or offensive.
3. When entering a chat room, submissives should greet those already present in the following sequence:
Their Dominant, CJ, other known Dominants, all other Dominants, the first girl, all other submissive/slaves.
4. When departing the chat room, it is considered appropriate for submissives/slaves to announce their intended departure and ask for permission to depart from one of the Dominants present. Permission to depart should not be unreasonably withheld. If after asking to depart, no acknowledgement is received within 3 minutes, the submissive should assume she has permission to depart.
5. It is considered rude for anyone to depart a chat room without announcing the intention and waiting at least one minute prior to departing to receive others acknowledgements or parting thoughts/messages.
6. Gorean style serves, approaches, dances, rituals and protocols are best suited for use in Gorean chat rooms on the site, such as SanctuaryVidrew, and are generally not used in the lobby.
7. Lifestyle collars whether shown on a submissive/slaves screen name or not will be honored and respected. The addition of and underscore and letters to the end of the name will be used to indicate a collar
